🧭 Being a good digital citizen

Online, the same kindness and responsibility apply as they would in person.

A citizen is someone who lives in a community and takes care of it. Online it works the same: the internet is a huge city made of real people behind every screen. Being a good digital citizen means treating others as you would like to be treated, even when nobody sees you and you could hide behind a nickname. Written words weigh as much as those said to your face: a mean comment truly hurts. The golden rule does not change with technology: respect, honesty and kindness count online exactly as in the school yard.

With AI this citizenship becomes even more important. A good digital citizen uses AI to build, not to destroy: to learn, help, create beautiful things. They do not use it to copy, deceive or offend. They check information before believing it, protect their own data and that of others, and do not stay silent if they see someone using technology to do harm. You do not need to be a computer expert: just bring the best of yourself online. Every time you choose to be fair and kind on the web, you make that great digital city a better place for everyone, yourself included.
