AI School › AI and emotions · Lesson 105 of 130
Talking with real people is harder than with AI, but it is where real friendship grows.
With AI everything is easy: it always understands, it does not interrupt you, it almost never misunderstands. With real people, though, it is sometimes harder: a friend can get distracted, mom can be in a hurry, a classmate can mix one thing up for another. You might think AI is better then. But that very effort is the secret: learning to talk with real people, to listen, to wait your turn, to explain better when we do not understand each other, is a precious skill that will serve you your whole life, far more than any perfect chat.
Talking with others is like a muscle: the more you train it, the stronger it gets. The first times it can be shy or clumsy, and that is perfectly fine. With practice you learn to look at people's faces, to catch a smile or a sad moment, to comfort and to be comforted. These are things a screen cannot really teach you. AI can be good practice for organizing your ideas, but then bring those ideas to real people. Imperfect conversations, with silences and laughter, are the ones that build lasting friendships and make you feel truly part of something.
Today start a face-to-face conversation with someone by asking a question and truly listening to the answer.
