📚 What data is

Photos, texts, sounds and numbers: data is the AI's schoolbooks.

You learn from books, teachers and experience. AI learns from data: photos, sentences, sounds, numbers. Every photo of a cat is a small piece of knowledge; millions of photos together become its "library". The bigger and more varied the library, the more capable the AI becomes.

Be careful though: if the schoolbooks contain mistakes, the student learns wrong things. The same happens with AI. If the photos always show male doctors and female nurses, the AI will believe the world is like that. That is why data must be chosen with care: it is the AI's diet, and the quality of the food decides its health.

🎒 Try it in class (or at home)

Activity: build a "class dataset", 10 drawings of houses made by you. Are they all similar? Would an AI trained on your drawings alone recognise a Japanese house or an igloo?
