The future of AI is not decided: people like you will build it with your choices.
Sometimes it seems the future of AI is decided only by big companies or distant scientists, and that you just have to put up with it. That is not true. Technology is built by people, and you will be one of those people in a few years: designers, teachers, doctors, artists, citizens who vote on laws and choose what to use. Every choice of yours counts: which apps you reward by using them, which behaviours you demand, which questions you ask. The future of AI is not something that «arrives» like rain; it is something built, brick by brick, by the decisions of millions of people like you.
What can you do right now? First, understand: whoever knows AI is not commanded or frightened by it. Then, use it with values: to help, not to hurt; to create, not to copy; to unite, not to divide. Finally, be willing to speak up: to ask that AI be fair, safe and useful to everyone, not just a few. You do not need to be a computer genius: you need curiosity, courage and heart.
