AI School › AI and emotions · Lesson 109 of 130
Setting limits with AI, like schedules and rules, helps you stay in charge.
AI is like a game that never ends: it always has another answer, another story, another reason to stay a little longer. That is exactly why it is wise to set limits, as we do with candy: nice, but not for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Limits are not a punishment; they are a way of caring for yourself. Deciding when to use AI and when not helps you stay the captain of your day, instead of letting the screen decide for you. Those who set healthy limits are not the ones who have less fun, but the ones who have freer fun.
You can build simple limits together with your family. For example: no AI during meals and before sleep, so you protect your rest and family talks. A maximum time per day, with an alarm to remind you. Screen-free zones, like the bedroom or the table. And sacred moments for real things: playing outside, reading, being with friends, being a little bored (which is good for imagination). When you feel it is hard to stop, it is not your fault nor weakness: ask an adult to help you keep the limits. Commanding a tool is nicer than being commanded by it.
With your family choose one limit-rule (for example no AI at the table) and try to keep it for a week.
