🦾 The AI that helps people with disabilities

It lends voice, eyes and hands to those who need them to live more freely.

AI can become the eyes of someone who cannot see: an app points the camera and describes out loud what is in front, "there is a chair", "the sign says exit", "your friend is waving at you". It can become the ears of someone who cannot hear, turning words into subtitles in real time. And it can give a voice to those who cannot speak, reading the text they write or even the movements of their eyes.

These technologies do not cure a disability, but they knock down the walls that make life harder, a bit like a ramp beside a staircase. They make the world more open to everyone, and this is one of the most beautiful uses of artificial intelligence. But it truly works only if we think of these people from the very start, when we design things. A world built for everyone is a better world for each of us, and AI can help us build it.
