✨ What makes human beings special

Body, emotions, values and bonds: AI imitates, but we truly live.

An AI can write a poem about love without ever having loved, describe the taste of ice cream without ever tasting it. We humans, instead, live things through the body: cold that gives us shivers, a heart pounding before a race, tears when we say goodbye to a friend. Our ideas grow from this lived life, not from a calculation. We feel time passing, we know we will one day die, and precisely because of that we treasure our moments. No program, however clever, shares with us this experience of being alive.

There is more. Humans have values: we can choose to do the right thing even when it is hard or not convenient. We build friendships, care for others, apologise, forgive. We give meaning to things, invent stories that unite us, are moved by useless beauty like a sunset. AI is a powerful tool we can use to express all this better, but it does not feel it. Remembering what makes us special is not about feeling superior to machines: it is about not forgetting to grow exactly those qualities, because they are the treasure no technology can give us in our place.
