AI School › AI, work and future · Lesson 89 of 130

🔮 What work will be like in the future

More flexible, more creative, more done together with machines.

No one has a crystal ball, but we do have some clues. In the work of the future, machines will do more and more of the repetitive and dangerous parts, and people will have more time to think, imagine and care for others. We will probably change jobs several times in life and learn new things at each stage. The place where we work will be more flexible too: sometimes together, sometimes remote, often in mixed teams of people and AI.

This can be frightening, but think of what your great-grandparents' lives were like: much harder, with fewer choices. Every age has its fears and its chances. The important thing is not to guess exactly how it will be, but to get ready to face it with an open mind. The future of work is not written yet: we will write it, with the choices we make. And you, who are learning to understand AI as a young person, will hold an important pen in your hand.

🎒 Try it in class (or at home)

Write a "letter to the future" to yourselves twenty years from now: what job do you imagine? Seal it in an envelope and open it one day. Imagining helps you build.
