🔐 Your rights over your data

Your data is yours: you have the right to know, to choose and to say no.

Every time you use an app you leave traces: what you watch, where you are, who you talk to, for how long. These are your «personal data», and they are as valuable as precious objects. Many companies want them because with them they can show you ads or train their AIs. The good news is that in Europe there are laws that say clearly: your data is yours. You have the right to know what information they collect about you, to ask for a copy, and even to ask them to delete it. You are not a product: you are a person with rights.

What can you do in practice? First, pause before accepting everything with one click: at least read what it is about, ask an adult for help if you do not understand. Then, share only what is truly needed: a game does not need your contact list or your location every second. Finally, remember that «free» often means you pay with your data. It is not necessarily bad, but it is fair to know it and choose thoughtfully. Protecting your data is not being fearful: it is being the owner of your things, just as you zip your backpack so you do not lose what you keep inside.

🎒 Try it in class (or at home)

Open the privacy settings of an app you use (with an adult) and find one thing you can turn off without losing the fun.
