🌍 The AI that protects the planet

It watches forests, oceans and animals to help us care for the Earth.

The Earth is huge and always changing: forests disappearing, glaciers melting, animals at risk of vanishing. Keeping an eye on all this by hand is impossible. But satellites take photos of the planet every day, and an AI learns to read them: it notices at once if a forest is shrinking, if a river is polluted or if a fire has just started. It is like having thousands of nature guardians who never sleep.

AI also helps protect animals: it listens to the sounds of the jungle and recognises the call of a rare species, or counts elephants in photographs to see if they are in danger. Then it is our turn to act: plant trees, stop poachers, clean the seas. The machine opens our eyes and warns us quickly, but caring for the planet is a choice we make, every day, with our own actions.

🎒 Try it in class (or at home)

Take (or draw) two photos of the same garden one week apart and hunt for every tiny difference. Noticing changes over time is exactly what AI does with satellites.
