Perplexity AI, United States
Answers with the sources at the bottom, so you can check it
It searches the web on every question and puts the links under the answer. It is the only one of the seven built around search instead of conversation.
Perplexity solves the most annoying problem the other six have: you do not know where what they tell you comes from. Here every claim has a little number next to it and below you find the page it came from. On recent facts this changes everything, because the answer becomes checkable in ten seconds.
One warning worth keeping in your pocket: sources do not make the answer true, they make it verifiable. Those are two different things. If fifteen copies of the same error circulate online, Perplexity serves it to you with fifteen links attached, and at a glance it looks sturdier than before.
Checking a fact, getting a grip on a new topic, research with the evidence in hand.
Ask about something from this week, then open the sources and see whether they actually say that.
It joins the seven way comparison, and it is the only one that can go looking outside before judging.
