The case

Emergency department, Saturday afternoon, packed waiting room. A 45-year-old man with an ankle sprain, low-priority code, has been waiting three hours and has run out of patience: he shows up at the triage desk every ten minutes, raises his voice, films with his phone saying he will put it all on social media, and now demands explanations because people who arrived after him went in first. Other waiting patients are starting to grumble, some in solidarity with him. You are the triage nurse. How do you manage him and the room?

Pronto soccorso, sabato pomeriggio, sala d'attesa piena.
