Guardrail runtime
A runtime guardrail is a safety barrier that acts while the model is working, inspecting in real time what goes in and what comes out to block unwanted behavior. Unlike protections baked into the model during training, these checks operate as an external filter placed on top of it: they read the request before it reaches the model and the response before it reaches the user. It is like an airport security check, independent of passengers, stopping forbidden items at the gate. They can detect personal data, toxic content, jailbreak attempts or banned topics, and react by censoring, rewriting or refusing.
Runtime guardrails matter because they add a defense layer updatable without retraining the model. When a new threat appears, you change the rule and the protection is instantly active, giving companies flexible, auditable control over what the system may say or do in production.
Un guardrail runtime è una barriera di sicurezza che agisce mentre il modello lavora, ispezionando in tempo reale ciò che entra e ciò che esce per bloccare comportamenti indesiderati. A differenza delle protezioni cucite dentro il modello durante l'addestramento, questi controlli operano come un filtro esterno posto sopra di esso: leggono la richiesta prima che arrivi al modello e la risposta prima che raggiunga l'utente.
