GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer)

GPT, Generative Pre-trained Transformer, identifies OpenAI's family of language models and, by extension, the architecture that enabled the current AI generation: Generative (it generates text), Pre-trained (on enormous corpora), Transformer (the underlying neural architecture).

Definition

The GPT series marked recent AI history, from GPT-2's promise to GPT-4's reasoning and multimodality. "GPT" has also become a generic term, though Claude, Gemini and Llama technically do not belong to the GPT family.
