Few-shot

Few-shot prompting is the technique of providing the model with 2-5 examples of desired input and output before presenting the actual task. The examples act as a "demonstration" of what is expected, guiding the model toward the correct format, tone, and level of detail.

Definition

For example, to classify customer support emails by urgency, you can include 3 emails already classified as "High / Medium / Low" urgency before asking for classification of the new email. The model learns from the pattern of the examples and applies the same criterion to the new input.
