This technique is especially relevant in tasks where a misunderstanding would carry a high cost: operational instructions that must be executed exactly, legal or regulatory requests where an ambiguous term can change the meaning of an analysis, or prompts reused at scale where even a small ambiguity can propagate across many outputs.
The concept connects directly to prompt sensitivity, of which disambiguation represents the active countermeasure: while sensitivity describes the problem, disambiguation describes the writing practice that prevents it, identifying and clarifying critical points before they produce divergent responses.
La disambiguazione nel prompt e' la tecnica di individuare e risolvere esplicitamente, prima o durante la formulazione della richiesta, i punti in cui il testo del prompt potrebbe essere interpretato in piu' modi diversi dal modello, riducendo cosi' il rischio che la risposta si concentri su un'interpretazione diversa da quella voluta.
Il processo consiste nell'analizzare il prompt cercando parole, riferimenti o istruzioni che ammettono piu' letture plausibili — un pronome che potrebbe riferirsi a piu' soggetti, un termine tecnico con significati diversi in contesti diversi, un'istruzione che potrebbe applicarsi a livelli diversi del compito — e nel riformulare quei punti in modo univoco, oppure nel far esplicitare al modello quale interpretazione sta adottando prima di procedere.
Questa tecnica e' particolarmente rilevante in compiti dove un fraintendimento avrebbe un costo alto: istruzioni operative che devono essere eseguite in modo esatto, richieste legali o normative dove un termine ambiguo puo' cambiare il significato di un'analisi, o prompt riutilizzati su larga scala dove anche una piccola ambiguita' puo' propagarsi su molti output.
Il concetto si collega direttamente alla sensibilita' al prompt, di cui la disambiguazione rappresenta la contromisura attiva: mentre la sensibilita' descrive il problema, la disambiguazione descrive la pratica di scrittura che lo previene, individuando e chiarendo i punti critici prima che producano risposte divergenti.
