ReAct (Reasoning + Acting)

ReAct interleaves reasoning steps ("Thought") with concrete actions ("Action"), such as calling a tool or looking something up, then uses the results ("Observation") to decide the next move. Instead of answering in one shot, the model loops: think, act, observe, rethink. Example prompt: "Follow this schema. Thought: what to find out. Action: search[query]. Observation: result. Repeat until you can answer, then write Final Answer." The model gathers the fact before responding, reducing hallucinations.

Definition

Use it for tasks needing external information or multiple steps: search, calculations, database queries, agents. The explicit loop makes reasoning auditable and connects the model to real tools.
