Sora (video)

Sora is a video generation model developed by OpenAI, able to produce short clips from text descriptions or reference images. It extends the concept of image generators to motion and time: the model must keep consistency across frames, plausibly simulate object physics, character continuity and lighting throughout the sequence. It generates scenes with subjects, environments and moving cameras, offering considerable control via the prompt. It is accessible as a cloud service, with no specialised hardware required from the user.

Definition

Video generation poses greater technical challenges than static images, due to computational cost and the difficulty of preserving temporal consistency. It also raises significant issues around disinformation and authenticity, making traceability of produced content important.
