Training Data

Training data is the set of examples an AI model is trained on. For large language models this means enormous text corpora, books, articles, web pages, code, from which the model learns the statistical patterns of human language.

Definition

The quality and composition of training data determine what the model knows and how it behaves: biased datasets transmit bias, and the knowledge cutoff means the model is unaware of recent events, which must be provided in the prompt or via RAG.
