GPT-4 / GPT-5

GPT-4 and GPT-5 are large language models developed by OpenAI, part of the "Generative Pre-trained Transformer" family. Trained on vast amounts of text to predict the next word, they acquire the ability to follow instructions, draft documents, reason through problems and write code. GPT-4 introduced multimodal capabilities, processing images alongside text, while later versions expanded the context window and improved reliability and speed. They are offered through the ChatGPT conversational interface and through paid APIs that let companies embed the model in their own applications.

Definition

GPT-5 is the most recent iteration, improving accuracy, reducing hallucinations and handling complex multi-step tasks. These models underpin many commercial assistants and software products.
