AI Dictionary › Prompting
Meta-prompting means using AI to improve prompts themselves: asking the model to write, critique or optimize a prompt before using it. Examples: "Write the ideal prompt to get X", "Analyze this prompt and tell me what it's missing", "Rewrite this prompt to make it more precise".
It's a powerful technique because models know their own workings well: they recognize a vague prompt and know what would make it effective. Meta-prompting accelerates learning, seeing how the AI rewrites your prompts teaches you the patterns that work.
Be careful not to delegate entirely, though: the AI-generated prompt must always be verified and adapted to the real context, which only you know. Meta-prompting is a multiplier for those who already have the method, not a substitute for skill.
