Deepfake

A deepfake is synthetic content, video, audio or image, generated by AI to make a real person appear to say or do something they never did. Voice and face cloning is now accessible to anyone.

Definition

Business risks are concrete and documented: CEO-voice wire fraud, reputation-damaging fake videos, synthetic identities in video interviews. Defenses: out-of-band verification for sensitive requests, staff training, watermarking and detection tools. The AI Act mandates transparency for AI-generated content.
