The GDPR (EU General Data Protection Regulation, 2016/679) is the European law governing personal data processing. For workplace AI use it is the most immediately relevant rule: whenever customer, employee or candidate data passes through an AI model, GDPR applies.
Critical points: legal basis, where data is processed, whether the provider trains on your data (to be contractually excluded), the right not to be subject to solely automated decisions (art. 22), and 72-hour breach notification. Practical rule: no identifiable personal data in prompts on consumer tools.
