Data Governance

Data governance is the set of rules, roles and processes by which an organization manages its data: who accesses what, where it resides, how it's classified, how long it's kept. AI made it urgent: typical incidents, proprietary code pasted into consumer chatbots, confidential documents uploaded "for a summary", stem from missing rules, not bad intentions.

Definition

AI-ready governance defines data classification, which AI tools are approved for which data class, supplier contracts (no training on your data, data residency) and people training.
